APECS and the Arctic Portal visited the University

Last Monday, the master's students in Coastal and Marine Management were given the opportunity to meet with Dr. Jenny Baseman, the director of the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists, and Sigmar Arnarson from the Arctic Portal Project, connecting them to scientists and researchers worldwide.

Dr. Jenny Baseman, the director of APECS, introduced what the association can do for early career scientists. This widespread grassroots association provides early career researchers with a strong network of colleagues and numerous contacts with respected scientists in their field. We encourage all early career scientists, graduate students and others interested in polar issues, to join the association. To find more out about APECS, please visit the website www.apecs.is.

Sigmar Arnarson, gave an introduction to the Arctic Portal Project. This ambitious and extensive web project is aimed to collect information on all matters concerning the arctic and present it in one place. For example the website hosts an extensive data map for the Arctic for use by researchers and students studying arctic matters. For all further information about the Arctic Portal please visit the site www.arcticportal.org.
