The research ship Knorr, mentioned a few weeks back here on the site, is currently docking in Ísafjörður. The ship departed from Reykjavík on August 22 to continue its research of the newly discovered ocean current, North Icelandic Jet, which could significantly influence the ocean's response to climate changes in previously unforeseen ways.

The ship is in Ísafjörður for a crew rotation before it heads back to the deep waters north of Iceland to continue its research. Two of Knorr's crew members, Sindre Skrede and Mirjam Glessmer, visited the University Centre. Mirjam was not unfamiliar with the Centre since she studied at the Univeristy in Kiel with one of our CMM alumni, Astrid Dispert. Mirjam is a part of the Knorr science team and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bergen. Sindre Skrede is a student of Journalism at the University of Bergen. He is a part of the Knorr outreach team and contributes to the expedition's website.
