SIT students present projects at the University Centre

The 2011 SIT student group
The 2011 SIT student group
The University Centre presently hosts a group of students from the School for International Training (SIT) for Vermont, USA. These students are taking the course Renewable Energy, Technology, and Resource Economics in Iceland, which is given in cooperation with the School for Renewable Energy Sciences (RES) in Akureyri and the University Centre of teh Westfjords.

The group is being taught about renewable energy in the form of lectures and introductions as well as field trips. Each student also completes an individual mini research project. On Friday, July 15, there will be an open teaching session at the University Centre where the studens will be presenting their findings. The presentations will begin at 10am and will continue until 3pm approximately, with a lunch break from 12 to 1pm. Each individual presantation will take 15-20 minutes. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to attend. We also would like to take this opportunity to thank all those everyone who has assisted the group during their stay in Ísafjörður.

Our community

"Iceland is a place where the four elements seem to be engaged in a constant battle for dominance over the lives of its inhabitants. This provides an exciting, if sometimes demanding, backdrop to the CMM programme. It's hard to imagine an environment better suited to preparing students for the challenges of a career in natural resource management."

Alan Deverell, Great Britain, CMM student 2009-2010
