On Thursday April 22, Bjarni M. Jónsson defended his master's thesis for 60 ECTS credits at the University Centre. His thesis is entitled Harnessing Tidal Energy in the Westfjords". The project instructor was Dr. Þorsteinn Ingi Sigfússon, Director of the Innovation Centre Iceland, and the external reader was Dr. John Nyboer, Research Associate at Simon Frasier University, Vancouver. The latter participated in the event via teleconferencing equipment, but the time difference was 7 hours so it was quite early in the morning for our external reader in British Columbia on the west coast of Canada.

Even though the event was held on a national holiday, the first day of summer, a large number of people attended. The University Centre would like to congratulate Bjarni and his family on this joyous occasion.
