Two new master´s courses

Monday July 13, two new courses began in the Masters Program in Marine and Coastal Management.

The first course, GIS, Geographical Information Systems is being taught by Mr. Tom Barry. Mr. Barry earned his master's in Environmental Geography from the University of Cork, Ireland. He has been a resident of Iceland for a few years and now teaches at the University of Akureyri. He is currently also employed as the Executive Secretary of the Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna Working Group of the Arctic Council (www.caff.is).

The second course, Tourism Policy and Planning in Coastal Areas is being taught by Professor Marc L. Miller, from the University of Washington, Seattle, USA. Marc earned his PhD in cultural anthropology and his field of interest is in fx the Tourism Planning and Development, Coastal Zone Management and Waterfront and Port Planning. Prof. Miller has co-edited three proceedings (1991, 1998, 2002) of the first three CMTs, has been Associate Editor of Coastal Management and has served as an Associate Editor of the Sage Qualitative Research Methods Series since the series began in 1986. He also serves as the Research Commentary and Notes Editor of Tourism in Marine Environments and a Coordinating Editor for Annals of Tourism Research.
