Applicants to the preparatory program must satisfy the following conditions:

1. Applicants must have completed secondary education with a diploma from a technical, trade, or comprehensive school, or a similar course of study. A journeyman's certificate is not required.

2. Those who do not fulfill this first condition may also apply to the preparatory program if they have considerable work experience and are at least 25 years old. For these students, the length and composition of the program depends on the student's preparation.

3. Language of teaching is Icelandic.
