Hrafnseyri/Þingeyri local services

Hrafnseyri is a former farm and boarding school, now a museum. In Hrafnseyri, you will find two churches, but no shops. In the farm house, there is a Café, where we will have meals and coffee. This is why all meals are included (except Wednesday evening in Þingeyri). Please indicate any special needs on your application form and/or bring your own essential items.

Þingeyri is a little fishing village in the remote Westfjords, where only basic services are available. We shall be in Þingeyri on Wednesday afternoon.

Þingeyri has a gas station (N1) that offers essentials such as bread, drinks, and snacks.
For dinner on Wednesday evening: The local hotel offers food. The coffee house Simbahöllin serves meals with products from the area on occasion and on request. Other arrangements for meals can be made with the guesthouse Við Fjörðinn.

Please note that daily lunch and dinner (besides Wednesday in Þingeyri) is included in the course fee, as the nearest possibility of shopping is in Ísafjörður (70 km).

Our community

"Iceland is a place where the four elements seem to be engaged in a constant battle for dominance over the lives of its inhabitants. This provides an exciting, if sometimes demanding, backdrop to the CMM programme. It's hard to imagine an environment better suited to preparing students for the challenges of a career in natural resource management."

Alan Deverell, Great Britain, CMM student 2009-2010
